Cleaning House
This story was a precursor to my first novel, In Dreams and the Remains of Cities. I wrote it in February of 1996, about a year before I started the novel. The main character of this very short story was the inspiration for the lead character in my novel, although the setting for the novel is a little different. I wasn’t really attempting to practice any particular style or aspect of writing here, just to finish another story and flesh out the characters and setting for the novel.
